This course is suitable for students of all ages; with a full-time study option for 16-18 year olds starting in September, and part-time study option for adults starting in September and March that lasts for 20 weeks, for one day per week.
This course is designed to teach you the techniques you will need to work in the dog grooming industry. Once you have successfully completed this course, you may be able to progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming, or work as an assistant in a dog grooming salon, or in kennels.
During the duration of the course you will study a variety of topics including:
- bathing and cleaning dogs correctly
- trimming techniques
- restraining and controlling dogs properly and safely
- customer care
The full-time course will also include:
- checking and maintaining dogs' health and welfare
- studying animal behaviour
- gaining experience in the work environment
In order to qualify for entry for this course you need one of the following:
- a minimum of four GCSEs (grade 3 and above, or D and above)
- distinction in a Level 1 qualification or equivalent
- prior work experience in a related professional field
- you will be encouraged to attend our Summer School
Students aged 16-18 are exempt from tuition and registration fees. For adults, registration and tuition fees will apply. Fee waivers are available depending upon circumstances.
